5 years on, Twitch has no guidelines to combat charity fraud.

I believe in the selfless dedication of gamers to do good, but have less faith in the dedication of corporations to do good by them. Twitch tolerates poor fundraising practices that undermine the good faith on which millions of dollars in annual charitable giving are based. I have no confidence this situation will change without a vocal outcry from the community.

Twitch is the largest video platform dedicated to live streaming. Twitch Broadcasters and Viewers legitimately raise millions of dollars towards charitable causes annually, drawing international attention. After 5 years of promoting itself as a platform for charitable giving, Twitch has no fundraising or charity guidelines for Broadcasters, and the misleading "charity" tag can be applied to any channel without any stated restrictions from Twitch or disclosures to donors, regardless of where charitable funds are going. Twitch has, in at least one instance, refused to provide donors with necessary information to confirm the charitable solicitations published on a Partnered channel, even when a direct collaboration was alleged between Twitch and a registered charity regarding the channel's revenues. Twitch has failed to address foreseeable and preventable avenues of fraud that expose millions of donors to negligent, deceptive, unethical, predatory, and fraudulent fundraising practices by Broadcasters and contracted Twitch Partners. Twitch profits from Broadcaster revenues passing through its platform and some of these revenues could have undocumented and unreported charitable origins.
Donors have a right to know their gifts are going directly to a charity and not the direct deposit of a "somebody", courtesy of Twitch. Donors have a right to know what portion, if any, of their gifts will be going to third parties, including Twitch. Donors should be adequately informed and protected from inducements to Subscribe/CheeTip or otherwise gift in a manner where their gifts will not be handled in ways that are consistent with common laws governing the control of funds solicited for charitable purposes.

Charity Needs To Be Completely Transparent

TwitchCon's closing ceremony declared 2019 the year of "pro support" for charity on Twitch:
"In the past, you were playing support. [...] This record-breaking year, you have leveled up. This year, you went pro. And that's why we are dubbing this year the year of pro support." -- Anna Prosser and DJ Wheat
DJ Wheat ended this declaration with a Clip montage of Broadcasters reacting to charitable donations. The channel of one such Broadcaster is presently barren. The profile displays an "it's empty in here" placeholder message, there is no VOD history, and all related social media (Twitter, Instagram, etc.) has been set to private. Nothing in the TwitchCon Clip or on the Twitch channel gives any indication as to how charitable funds were collected.
There is an old Tiltify profile in the channel's name, so it's likely the Broadcaster raised funds through a legitimate charity fundraiser. The problem is that many Broadcasters do not, because Twitch has no charity or fundraising guidelines requiring that they do. There's also no way for the public to readily verify the legitimacy of most fundraising efforts they are seeing on the platform.
If you search for "charity" on /twitch, you'll find more threads of a confused and concerned nature than celebratory. Broadcasters routinely ask for help running charity streams because Twitch provides no guidelines or guidance. One thread was downvoted for simply asking how to raise money for charity without touching the funds. A thread below it, posted by the representative of a non-profit, asks how charities are supposed to connect with streamers. Charity fraud has been a cyclical concern for over 5 years.
One thread posted on /twitch asks, "how do you guys feel about charity streams with donations made directly to the streamer?"
A major Twitch Partner (over 300 million channel views) responded:
Twitch Partner: "I agree, it is shady, but it was the best way to do it. Almost all charities I have done have gone through my PayPal account. [...]"
This comment was made four years ago. Charity on Twitch has grown considerably since then, but Twitch has not provided the community with rules to mitigate against fraud and liability (and not for a lack of suggestions). Although there are legitimate third-party fundraisers and charities with their own official extensions, Twitch Community Guidelines do not require their use, and Broadcasters are not explicitly prohibited from soliciting for charitable donations using personal, for-profit PayPal accounts.
Un-sponsored Partners and Affiliates who encourage Subscriptions, "Sub Trains", and Cheering with the promise that all revenues will go to charity are not operating on a more legitimate level. Outside of officially recognized charity events and Extensions, these revenues are fungible and paid out via direct deposit into the Broadcaster's personal bank account. Some jurisdictions deem it unlawful to represent or imply that a charity will receive an amount greater than the actual net proceeds reasonably estimated to be retained for its use (Gov. Code, § 12599.6, subd. (f)(8)), but Twitch takes a portion of Broadcaster revenues for itself, and most contracts forbid the disclosure of this ratio to the public. Furthermore, as Twitch does not appear to track the un-sponsored charitable fundraising activities of its Partners or Affiliates, the giving public can only wonder if their charitable gifts are being documented and reported as such, or simply treated as 1099-MISC revenues and income for Broadcasters. This not only obfuscates a charitable money trail that should always be completely transparent, but also shields Broadcasters from financial scrutiny by authoritative agencies and regulators tasked with holding them accountable to the public.
How much does a PartneAffiliate raise, how much do they receive, and how much do they disclose at their personal discretion to the giving public? How much does Twitch take for itself? How much gets donated to charity? How much gets reported as individual income? How much do Broadcasters write off each year with a substantial charitable tax deduction using funds with charitable origins?
Nobody has any way of knowing.

"Donation" is Misused and Misunderstood

Twitch defines Bits as "digital content (i.e., animated emoticons) that can only be purchased from Twitch." Under the Bits Acceptable Use Policy, Twitch states:
Don’t solicit Bits in exchange for money or donations, and don’t request money or donations for Bits.
A donation is given freely without return consideration. It's a gift. Within common usage, "donation" is a specialized term used in connection with charitable gifts to non-profits; which, in many jurisdictions, implies the funds are tax deductible.
However, many Broadcasters erroneously use the word "donation" interchangeably with the word "tip" when soliciting for personal profit. If Twitch clearly and unambiguously forbids this practice anywhere in writing, it does not appear to be enforced on the platform in any meaningful way. One major Twitch Partner (nearly 300 million channel views) has a giant "DONATE" button on their channel connected to their PayPal account. The panel describes the terms for on-screen notifications to appear, along with the following warning to donors: "No chargebacks." The Partner has used this otherwise for-profit "DONATE" button to collect charitable donations during all of their "charity streams", and they are not alone. Twitch's Laissez-faire attitude towards for-profit and non-profit fundraising has enabled a gross lack of distinction between the two on major Partner channels connected to charity.
Using only the Twitch Bits policy for context, I posted a poll asking how people interpreted the word "donation" in Twitch's Bits statement. All votes favored the interpretation that it is, "money sent to an individual through PayPal or StreamLabs."
Within what capacity is Twitch using the word "donation" in their Bits statement? Are they acknowledging that a clear misunderstanding for the word exists on their platform by using it in a capacity they expect users to understand as "tips"? Are they forbidding the solicitation of Bits for charitable purposes? Are they referring to a gift that is not monetary in nature?
Twitch provides no definition for the word "donation" anywhere on the page. I could find no other mention of the word within Twitch's legal guidelines (10/12/19).

Partners are Protected at the Expense of the Public

It's difficult to ascertain how charitable funds are being handled even on Partnered channels lauded for their work with registered charities. One major Twitch Partner (over 35 million channel views) made the following claims about revenues on their channel (emphasis added):
Twitch donates [channel] subscription revenue to [charity]'s Newborn and Child Survival programs all around the world. [...]
[...] Except for minimal Twitch costs (bandwidth, support etc) all [channel] subscription revenue is donated by Twitch to [charity].
In collaboration with Twitch and [charity], the stream is set up so that $4.25 of every $5 subscription fee is donated to [charity]. While on normal Twitch streams revenue is divided between Twitch and the streamer, [channel] is set up to have everything aside from Twitch's costs (such as paypal feels, bandwidth and support) donated to [charity].
The charity also has its own page dedicated to the Broadcaster which states, between 2016-2019, "[...] funds were raised from [platform], as well as all income (subscriptions, bits, cheers) generated from [channel]."
On 10/9/19, I contacted Twitch Charity and Twitch Legal to confirm these statements were accurate. Citing the claims on the channel and charity page, I asked (as a prospective donor) if Twitch directly sends all income from the Partnered channel to the charity. I also asked (as a Twitch Partner) if it was possible for any Partner to make the same arrangement regarding revenues on their own channel. On 10/21/19, I received the following response from the Twitch Charity Team:
We are unable to comment on another user’s account details for privacy reasons. If you have questions concerning how your potential donation would be handled by the creator seeking donations, then please ask those questions directly of the creator.
As an Affiliate or Partner, you may choose to donate the revenue you have earned on Twitch to a charity of your choosing. Twitch does not process this donation for you, and you are responsible for ensuring your fundraising activities comply with all applicable laws. -- Twitch Charity Team
Whether it's unable or unwilling, Twitch refused to provide a prospective donor with the necessary information to confirm the authenticity of charitable solicitations published on a Partnered channel, even when those statements alleged a collaboration between Twitch and a registered charity. Twitch, upon being notified of the published statements, did not denounce them in its official response, nor clearly disassociate itself from the full body of duties and obligations being alleged and implied, or owed to donors under applicable laws.
No response was ever received from Twitch Legal -- not even an automated one.

Platform for Convoluted Charity Schemes

On 10/24/19, a visit to the aforementioned Partner's channel revealed that all text panels, including those about charity, had been removed. The only plain text remaining was an e-mail address "for business & press inquiries only." Beside it was an image panel labeled "DONATE".
During this visit to the Partner's channel, the following exchange occurred during a live broadcast:
Twitch Partner: What matters at the end of the day is what you can do for the world and how you can contribute. [...] That's why I started this place where people can change the world. Here's the link -- you can change the world.
The link was for an application to work with the Partner's organization at their compound. Describing itself as a "group of activists working [...] to make a positive impact in the world," their "main focus is to inspire people through action and raise awareness around important issues." When a Twitch viewer asked for more details about what it is they do, the Partner described extensive charity efforts benefiting children.
Twitch Viewer: Can you exactly say what you do to change the world in your compound? "We change the world here" is very vague at best, it gives 0 information [...].
Twitch Partner: Maybe just do a quick Google search. I'm one of the biggest philanthropists on the Internet. I raise more than 25 million dollars for children in need, reaching more than 2.5 million children in very effective ways. You're not just talking to a random streamer, bro. I have a very big history. I've been on CNN. I've been invited to the United Nations, even the European Union. I've spoken for [stations] all over the world.
Twitch Viewer: How are the children supported?
Twitch Viewer: Watch your ego, bro.
Twitch Partner: "How are the children supported?" "Check your ego, bro?" Well, the guy's just talking to me, like, "hey, what do you do?" I'm just giving you a little rundown, bro, and then you call it ego? These are just facts. There's nothing ego about it. It's okay to have an ego, but I don't have an ego.
I searched for more facts about charity work on the website linked by the Partner. A section titled "Our Vision" describes two "crypto utility tokens" conceived by the organization and used in alleged collaboration with a registered charity to benefit its cause.
Pilot projects in developing regions are expected to launch in 2019 in collaboration with [charity]. These experiments will examine the intricacies and viability of implementing universal basic income on wider scales and, perhaps one day, in the whole world.
The application posted by the Partner in chat asks how many tokens applicants own. The Partner has used their Twitch channel to heavily promote the tokens while boasting of their charitable applications. According to the "White Paper" published on the group's website, initial fundraising for the tokens took place on the Partner's Twitch channel, with tokens being "reserved for donors" (emphasis added):
"[Token] was initially only distributed for donations not towards its creator but towards charity and/or the above-mentioned volunteers who are collaborating on initiatives that support [Token]. The initial limited fundraising was conducted through our livestream where, at [Broadcaster]’s discretion, tokens were reserved for donors who support the project. [...]"
However, one section of the White Paper confusingly goes on to state that, "of course, none of this is legally binding, as seen in the mini-documentary" (emphasis added):
[...] Of course, none of this is legally binding, as seen in the mini-documentary. In the end, the entire idea of [token] is built on the psychology of supply and demand and how, when channeled through the right incentives, even a very simple token can grow into one of the most valuable and world-changing forces for good within the crypto-sphere.
The "mini-documentary" -- once shown on the Twitch Partner's channel and now embedded on the crypto's website -- goes on to state that this "not-for-profit" token can be reserved by "donating directly to [charity]" on the Partner's crypto website. When reviewing the purchase process on the site, no means of donating directly to the charity was readily apparent, nor any guarantee that proceeds from the sale would go directly to the charity.
Amidst these confusing statements about a not-for-profit token benefiting charity, the Twitch Partner goes on to claim that because they humorously admit to "running a scam," they are not legally bound by any of the statements, express or implied, being made to donors on their Partnered Twitch channel (emphasis added):
Co-Streamer: [...] I am on top and I am the money man because I get all the money. [...] Over the past few weeks, people have donated around one million dollars to me as a result of the two of us livestreaming for around a few hours each day, informing people that we are running a cryptocurrency scam.
Twitch Partner: We're just running a fucking crypto scam. [...]
Co-Streamer: [...] We created what is now one of the most popular Twitch donation platforms both for personal as well as charity donations. [...] Now, for our latest endeavor, we've invented our own cryptocurrency [...] and for that, we've launched an ICO. Only, it's not really an ICO. We like to present it as a scam. [...] Rather than hiding the loopholes in fine print using incomprehensible legal language, we are openly and clearly stating that we are strangers on the Internet who cannot be sued for fraud if we steal your money or use it for a Lambo instead. We do not hide our disclaimer that says we are not promising let alone making any legally binding statements that guarantee that you'll get any [token] in exchange for your contributions. So, what exactly is [token]? It is a simple token or coin that gives people the ability to contribute to its altruistic objectives by holding it. [Token] can be reserved by donating directly to [charity] on [token site], or by donating to my development team that is currently building software that accepts [token]. In neither scenario does [Twitch Partner], the creator and distributor of the token, receive nor have any right to any of the funds that are donated, making [token] a not-for-profit token. As outlined in our White Paper, we also have several unusual mechanisms and strategies in place that highly increase the chances of [token] becoming very valuable on exchanges.
On January 25, 2018, both tokens were de-listed from IDEX, spawning a Twitter thread. One Twitter user writes, "[Partner] admitted is was a scam today, as [they have] multiple times. They're using cryptocurrency for 'satire comedy' but actually taking people's money. [Clip]"
The Clip linked in the Tweet has been deleted, along with all other Clips and VODs from the "not-for-profit" token's initial fundraising period on the Partnered channel. If it was "satire comedy", it should never have come at the expense of charity on the Twitch platform.

The Shameful State of the Charity Tag

If the public is looking for streams giving to charitable causes, they will not find a category for them on Twitch -- only a "charity" tag. This tag should probably be renamed to "giving", as the word "charity" can create a likelihood of confusion and misunderstanding for the public about the non-profit status of a channel, conveying a false sense of legitimacy (Gov. Code, § 12599.6, subd. (f)(2)). Any Broadcaster can apply the "charity" tag to their channel, regardless of what they are doing or where raised funds are going, with no stated restrictions or disclosures from Twitch.
On 9/29/19, the most popular stream I found under the "charity" tag was a static overlay with the title "Animal Charity Stream - Bit Goal 2019 Appeal" with 120 Viewers. The words "Animal Charity Stream" were centered on screen with a static image of a cat and Subs/Bits/Tips goals. VOD history showed the Broadcaster playing videogames while the same pet cat slept in the background. This was the only cat seen in VODs.
One profile panel was a collage of random cats with a plea to "support a local cats' shelter through Streamlabs." Another was a "Success Story" with a picture of two kittens that stated, "without the generous support of people like you, Polly and Lilly wouldn't have been able to find homes [...]." All of these panels appealed to public empathy and linked to a tip page connected to the Broadcaster's personal PayPal account.
Under "Why Donate", the Broadcaster wrote the following:
"The donations help me and the refuge continue our work. While the love and attention our cats receive comes for free, veterinary treatment, neutering and microchipping all has to be paid for. Also, you'll be helping home a rescued cat or kitten. [...] You will receive an e-mail of a random rescue cat, and their story. [...]"
Although "Animal Charity", "Cat Charity", "Cats' Shelter", and "Refuge" are mentioned frequently, no official names are provided for these supposed organizations, nor is any distinction made between them as perceived entities and the Broadcaster as an individual. Nowhere on this channel are donors provided with the most basic material information necessary to make an informed decision: where their gifts are going.
This is the morally and legally dubious state of the "charity" tag on Twitch; where donors have no idea if channels are charities themselves, or giving to charity at all. At the time of this writing, the most popular stream with the "charity" tag was a Twitch Partner with 117 Viewers, and all of their solicitations were for personal profit. I have seen this channel using the "charity" tag for over a week without engaging in any charitable activities.
Both channels remain online using the "charity" tag, despite being reported to Twitch for deceptive use of the tag while not engaged in fundraising for a specified charity.

Twitch Should Act Like It Has A Fiduciary Duty

Twitch is a company headquartered and doing business in California, which is a state with strict charitable solicitation laws protecting the public from fraud, deceit and imposition. Poor fundraising practices are an area of historical abuse for charity, and these laws serve a dual purpose of preserving public trust in the integrity of charitable causes. Erosion of that trust -- our good faith belief that our gifts will be going towards a good cause -- undermines the foundation on which charitable giving is based, and on which so many good causes depend.
Twitch could assert that it has no fiduciary duty towards the community, or that it cannot guarantee the authenticity of claims made by its Partners/Affiliates/Broadcasters about where charitable funds raised on their channels will be going. However, Twitch does have a duty not to mislead the public or contribute to fraudulent and deceptive practices on its platform. It is fully within Twitch's power to dictate what form charitable fundraising takes through the creation of proper fundraising tools, integrations, and guidelines. It is fully within Twitch's power to insulate the most charitable and vulnerable members of its community from negligent, deceptive, unethical, predatory, and fraudulent practices. It is fully within Twitch's power to impose and enforce restrictions on the solicitations, promises, and claims its contracted Partners are broadcasting and publishing on Partnered Twitch channels.
After five years and millions of dollars in charitable fundraising, it's difficult to defend Twitch for failing to introduce so much as basic guidelines for charitable fundraising. How much longer must the community wait before it says enough is enough? What foreseeable and preventable abuses must occur before we do?

Global Lockdowns, NATO's Euro Defender 20, Tension in the Venezuelan waters, competition over arming India, the oil wars, and warnings from Russia...This is about more than a virus

So we've seen countless posts on here stating the same thing "something doesn't feel right." Almost every one agrees that there is something else going besides Covid-19. The truth is out in the open, all you have to do is look beyond the non-stop Corona-rama coverage in the news to see the big picture. We are on the brink of World War 3...for real this time...and we may be only weeks away from it's official kick off. Now I know that has been thrown around to the point where it's hard to take seriously, but take a look at what has been happening in recent weeks and you'll begin to see this isn't just a meme anymore...
Have you heard about NATO's Euro Defender 20 Excercise that's going on right now? As described on it's website it is "U.S.-led multinational exercise, including NATO's participation. It is the largest deployment of U.S.-based forces to Europe in more than 25 years with 20,000 soldiers deployed directly from the U.S. to Europe. As such, it demonstrates U.S. commitment to NATO and its resolve to stand by its European Allies and Partners." So even with a global pandemic occurring, this exercise is so important that the US still sends 20,000 soldiers, 9,000 vehicles to "exercise the Army's ability to coordinate large scale movements with Allies and partners." and " build strategic readiness by deploying a combat credible force to Europe in support of NATO and the U.S. National Defense Strategy. " In the original documents released, they stated that they " we're planning those movements for night time to minimize the friction caused to civilian traffic" convenient is it that these nations are under lockdown and this is no longer an issue.
So you may be saying "so what this is only an exercise" but long time followers of conspiracy theories know how often an exercise goes live. And it's not just the conspiracy theorists who are concerned..."Russia warned of retaliation if troops moved on its border" Sure enough, shortly after the US sent it's troops over to Europe, Russia sent Military Aid to it's closest NATO affiliated ally, Italy in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. In the following weeks NATO claimed the exercise was cancelled and scrubbed nearly all the info of events from the website. However the US Army Eurodefender website claims the excercise has been "modified" with the troops already stationed there still partaking in select drills. With the original release stating a majority of the drills were to be held in May, we'll have to wait and see if anything goes down.
This isn't the only area of the world where Russia and US tensions are on the rise. Russia has criticized US Navy movement on Venezuela, who seem to be anticipating conflict after their Navy sent a ship that failed to attack a cruise ship and sunk itself. Moving to another continent, Russia and US seem to be competing over who sells weapons to India. Trump visited India in late February and struck a deal to sell them $3.5 billion worth of Helicopters. Russia followed up with a $5 billion deal for Russian S-400 missile systems.
Once again moving to other continents, Russia is checking in on it's allies, providing North Korea and Iran with Covid-19 test kits. I am sure we don't need to dive too much into America's relations with these countries, especially since it was only a few month ago we saw all the World War 3 Iran memes. And then of course there is China. Russia has joined China and Iran in blaming the US for the Covid-19 outbreak. Weeks before they even went as far to say that there wasn't even a real pandemic occurring. If that's the case than maybe Covid-19 was used to cover up the fact that the economic crash could have actually been caused by oil war between Saudi Arabia and Russia...I'm sure Venezuela would have some things to say about that.
Like Russia, many users here are also questioning the origins of the outbreak as well, along with many questioning whether its real. However, its beginning to look like it doesn't matter whether or not the virus is real, or if it leaked from a Chinese/American bio lab, or is a bio weapon attack from China/America/Russia. It's starting to look like these lock down's have less to do with Covid-19, and more to do with the increasing threat of a major war. Brace yourselves, "this is the new normal."
...or maybe we'll get hit with an asteroid next week and all just fucking die making all of this drama meaningless, who knows?

Sites to Avoid: Definitely DO NOT post these.

Earnsanity — Shady owner, sketchy site. Held giveaway and then refunded the prizes after it was over. History of scamming many others. AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED.
Paidverts — Shady owner, sketchy site. Keeps doing debt swaps (cash to BAP). Do not post.
Neobux — It isn’t really a scam, but they operate as a pyramid scheme. There’s money to be made online, but it’s definitely not there.
MarketGlory — It does pay out, but the pay is absolutely ridiculous. The only way to make a decent amount of money is to have a lot of referrals, and referral whoring on this subreddit WILL result in a permanent ban.
MindSumo — Not actually a /beermoney site. It’s only spam in this sub.
G2A — Scam/sells stolen keys.
Robinhood — This is spammed on our sub constantly.
Quickthoughts — Many reports of people being banned when trying to withdraw as of 10/2018. Do your due diligence before possibly wasting your time on this app.
Sites with $100+ minimum — These sites usually offer higher than normal payments for simple tasks, with a high minimum to cash out. They are always scams.
Generic news sites that pay you ridiculous amounts to read an article (two euros??) — Common sense should take care of this, but in case it doesn’t, it’s always a scam. The site is usually hosted somewhere in Eastern Europe, and you will never get paid.
Free bitcoin sites/"faucets" (THIS INCLUDES QOINPRO) — This is not referring to those video-viewing/task sites (although they’re still paying fragments of a penny). I’m talking about sites that give you 0.000001BTC to fill a captcha (, dailybitcoins). Admittedly many beermoney sites pay low, but don’t even bother with these.
Also: Bitcoin mining is NO LONGER PROFITABLE. If you're really so keen on getting bitcoins, doing so through an exchange is your best option.
Here are a few more scam sites and sketchy sites.
Please note that presence on this post does not imply that /beermoney or its moderators endorse the site or their views, actions, or policies. This list simply contains sites that are used by a large number of our users or are frequently mentioned on our subreddit.
We frequently monitor data from all the sites on this list from various sources to ensure that users are able and interested in utilizing them and if they do, that they also are getting paid promptly and fairly for all work they do. Card Benefits Services (Eclaims) is totally pointless

Hi fellow Redditors
Not sure if this belongs here. Might come off as a rant but I utilized Chase's baggage delay insurance on on my trip back in May of 2019 and have yet to understand how it is ever possible to obtain reimbursement from this company. I used a CSR to file this claim.
Background: I travelled to Italy back in late April to Early May using Chase UR and flew with KLM/AF. We had a layover in AMS airport. Overall a very pleasant experience for premium travel from departure, layover, to arrival. Upon arriving to Florence (FLR) airport me and my partner's luggage did not come out on the baggage claim conveyor. We filed a claim with the local airport and had a few days where we had to buy some essentials before our luggage would get delivered to us. I researched that KLM/AF would provide reimbursement. I also was well aware Chase's baggage delay reimbursement would cover 100.00 USD for a maximum of 5 days. We eventually received our luggage after 2 days and went on merrily with our trip. Fast forward to after the trip, I made a claim with KLM to which Delta handled the request and reimbursed me within days of submission. I made the initial claim with Card Benefit Services on April 12, 2019 and have finally come to a conclusion today on June 26th, 2019. It has been a very inefficient and laborious process of documentation requests and days of waiting for confirmation. Upon submission of documentation, there were times were extra documentation that was never mentioned in any policy was required. I understand that at the minimum these are the required elements:
Common carrier settlement - Copy of the settlement or denial from the Common Carrier
Common carrier initial claim - Copy of the initial claim report filed with the Common Carrier (Baggage irregularity report, etc)
Travel itinerary - Copy of the travel itinerary
Monthly billing statement - Copy of the monthly billing statement showing the last 4 digits of account number to confirm the travel fare was charged to the covered account
Receipts - Copies of receipts (for essential items over $25.00) for claimed expenses
The unclear requests that I was asked to submit for clarification which Card Benefit Services never informed me about was:
  1. Travel itinerary - I sent an email confirmation of the flights booked initially but they wanted the actual PDF from the airline from booking
  2. Receipts - I sent only the receipt for the item which was over $25.00 on my statement. I purchased in Euros but only sent the purchases over $25.00. Card services requested all receipts for my claim to confirm the exchange rate displayed on the statement for ALL purchases I was claiming.
  3. You are required to enter the carrier amount in the initial form which is basically how much you booked the flight for to verify that you used the CSR to purchase the flight. Since I used Chase UR to transfer to Flying Blue miles, I only paid the surcharge and used that charge as my carrier amount. Card Benefit Services went on the explain to me they had an amount of 0 on my initial claim and that I would need to show a statement showing that I had transferred the points over. Also very unclear that this was needed.
  4. Relationship to traveler - i travelled with my girlfriend but was never intending to include her on the claim as it would have been null anyways. The benefit only covers domestic partners, and direct family members. Card Benefits Services asked me to confirm relationship with this traveler when I clearly stated initially that I was only claiming for myself.
  5. Receipt of luggage - Again it wasn't very clear what they needed exactly. I showed two pieces of documentation that showed that the Airport in Florence informed me of delivery with my bag numbers and also a screenshot from the tracking system that it was resolved. In one of my phone calls to the Card Benefits Services they said they would need a verbal confirmation that I received it to put on file. What? What difference does that make at all when I provided objective evidence already.
Card Benefits Services has been very ambiguous and passive with the whole situation. I had to constantly press on phone calls as to what other documentation I was missing without ever getting any clear information I needed from the automated emails I was receiving. I was finally fed up with the phone calls and waiting and started pressing the operator as to what other pieces of documentation were needed after the verbal confirmation of receipt of luggage. (That was the last thing they requested before I started escalating the issue). I made it very clear that at this point I've provided every piece of documentation needed to approve and reimburse me on my claim and that I find it ridiculous that a seemingly standard procedure like this would take so long to resolve. I received the same cycle of profuse apologies, deflection, and placation from the operator. They suggested that the reviewer could give me a call to which I said I just want the claim to be resolved, not a call. I got a call a few days later. The operator opened the call with asking me what else I needed for this because as far as they knew they were done with it. I said I wanted to be done with my claim because there's nothing else I need to provide. I said I didn't get reimbursed and would like an answer as to why not. The explanation was that since in the piece of documentation I sent for Carrier settlement shows that the airline has reimbursed me. I went on to question as to how that is in any way related. If the airline reimburses me for delayed luggage, what is preventing me from exercising my right to claim through Card Benefit Services? The operator said it would be a case of double dipping. I responded with the question of where does it say in any policy that I can't do that through this benefit. The operator responds, "I don't know". So I start throwing profanities saying if you can't explain that to me then this is fucking bullshit then right? She told me that I would have to refrain from using that language and she disconnected the line. I was livid. I gave myself a few minutes to calm down and went to refer to Chase's guide for benefits:
What is a Common Carrier Covered Trip? • It’s travel on a Common Carrier (see definitions section) when some portion of the fare for transportation has been charged to your Account issued by Chase Bank USA, N.A. and/or its affiliates. • It’s also travel on a Common Carrier when free flights have been awarded from frequent flier or Rewards programs, provided that all of the miles or Rewards points were accumulated from a Rewards program sponsored by Chase Bank USA, N.A. and/or its affiliates. The Baggage Delay benefit amount is in excess of any travel insurance purchased by the Insured Person for the same Covered Trip or indemnity or reimbursement from the airline, cruise line, railroad, station authority, or occupancy
Redditors let me know if I'm interpreting this the wrong way. "In excess of" suggests that if reimbursement from the airline could be considered a primary policy, wouldn't Card Benefit Services be the excess policy? I would still be eligible for reimbursement by that language. Anyways I called back and talked to a more knowledgeable operator to which I raised the same concerns. They provided an explanation that this coverage is supplemental and used a superficial example of let's say you made a purchase for a flight and said you were too sick to go so you utilized a policy to reimburse the full amount from the airline. Then you wouldn't be able to make the same claim from the Card Services. That explanation actually provided nothing more than a redundancy of information that I've already just learned. I still believe the policy wasn't very clear. In any case, I just gave up on the claim and said it's going to be closed out. The money wasn't the issue but more of the principle of utilizing the benefit, My conclusion is that basically the only way you could utilize this benefit is if the common carrier gives you a denial for settlement like what is stated in the first piece of documentation Card Benefits Services asks for. I find this whole benefit to be a huge loophole for those who want to utilize it.
TL:DR: Card Benefits Services is a scam loophole and I agree with all the negative reviews of claims processing I find on the internet

A summary of QASH and why I believe it will serve a pivotal role in the growth of the cryptocurrency market worldwide.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not affiliated with this project in any way. Don't take this as actual investment advice at face-value, but rather a comprehensive summary I put together based upon my own findings, research, and personal insight about the project. As always, if you do wish to invest, please DYOR beforehand and make your investments based upon your own assessment of the project.
The token is called QASH (by QUOINE) and it essentially serves as the financial utility and payment token for QUOINE's upcoming Liquid+ platform and all services which it provides. I haven't actually seen much talk going on about this anywhere, and to me, it's sort of baffling how seemingly under-the-radar this has been flying, given the problem that it's going to be solving in the cryptocurrency space.

The Problem

The platform that they've built is super intriguing to me as a cryptocurrency trader due to the fact that it's aiming to fundamentally solve a huge, yet often overlooked problem in this space: illiquidity. This really excites me because in my personal experience (and I'm sure for many others on this sub who are stuck trading with minor currencies), attempting to purchase BTC, ETH, or other tokens with a fiat currency like say, GBP, is just downright painful and usually ends up in an immediate loss since there are significantly fewer buyers and sellers in the relevant GBP markets than say, USD markets - and thus the market price can tend to slip easily in either direction even with relatively small trade amounts (as a result of high spreads).

The Solution: Liquid+

Now imagine the case whereupon this problem doesn't exist — where anyone around the world, whether it be individuals, institutional investment, businesses, etc., would always be able to have immediate access to highly liquid cryptocurrency markets, and not be subject to an inherent disadvantage simply by virtue of the specific fiat currency they're using to trade with or one particular exchange that they're trading on.
This is a landscape which the Liquid+ platform will be able to render to the cryptocurrency economy, and what I think solving this problem will ultimately mean is that we'll start to see a much more global influx of individuals and institutions coming into the cryptocurrency space because a massive, worldwide liquidity pool will have been created through the Liquid+ platform. Essentially, the platform will enable minor currencies such as the Rupee, Peso, Pound Sterling, Thai Baht, whatever it is you name it — to be traded with on the same level of liquidity that a major currency (e.g. USD) does. This is the function of what they're calling the "World Book".

World Book

The World Book essentially is a global aggregation of orders sourced from many different cryptocurrency exchanges (i.e. "liquidity silos"). Orders which are placed from within any of the connected exchanges can be simultaneously published into the Liquid+ platform and be matched with orders from a completely separate exchange. What's even more fascinating about this is that these matched orders aren't even necessarily required to be of the same trading pair.
So for instance, a trader who intends to make a btc-yen trade can be automatically matched up with another trader making a totally separate trade say, eth-euro, just by virtue of the world book internally executing a two-step transaction in order to "hop" from the euro trade to the yen trade. It's important to note that this entire process all happens seamlessly and is transparent to the end-user. Each trader would see every other traders' orders denominated in their preferred quote currency (even though the orders may actually be based on a different quote currency on the other side), meaning that the world book is "currency-agnostic" amongst all orders.
Performance-wise, the platform is deemed to be capable of handling over a million of these orders / FX-conversions per second, and is built upon a set of already established and tested technologies developed by QUOINE. As a result, much of the platform is actually already in place, and the integration work with many of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges are already underway or have been completed.
Additionally, here's a great explanation of what the World Book can do as described by Andre Pemmelaar, who is one of the architects of the platform. Further high level explanation by QUOINE CEO Mike Kayamori.
Another important point to note on this is that there's generally a big incentive for exchanges to participate in this World Book, as it will be able to funnel in substantially more trading volume from the markets of other exchanges.
In my mind, the World Book will no doubt be an absolute game changer to this space when it hits. However, there's another equally, if not more substantial component to the platform:

Prime Brokerage

Liquid+ will act as a Prime Brokerage service, and it will be the first of its kind in the cryptocurrency space (by which QUOINE is officially licensed by the JFSA, one of the strictest regulators in the world). One way you can think of it, is that this could effectively make Liquid+ into the Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley equivalent of the cryptocurrency space, and it's in fact aiming to become the platform upon which major hedge funds and institutional investors around the world will prefer to leverage in order to mitigate counter-party risk (such as a particular exchange getting hacked and losing funds), manage and move large amounts of fiat capital, as well as take advantage of the globally sourced liquidity pool provided by the world book.
To me, it makes perfect sense to have integrated, seeing as many of the major reputable exchanges around the world will have already been interconnected through the Liquid+ platform. Ultimately, it means individuals as well as major institutions coming into this space will no longer be required to deal with the pain of managing numerous individual accounts across multiple exchanges and transferring funds between each. Instead, Liquid+ allows its users to be provided with direct market access to the liquidity and trading pairs yielded by all associated exchanges in a single platform, and on a single account. By now, you can probably start to imagine just how attractive this is going to be for the major institutional players coming into this space, and on an international scale.

User-Generated Trading Strategies

Another intriguing feature is that once the QASH blockchain is implemented, the platform will be able to facilitate the authoring of custom-written automated trading strategies and algorithms by any of its users (including individuals as well as institutions), utilizing a variety of mainstream programming languages. These strategies can then be published to the platform and shared amongst other users. The profits yielded by these trading strategies are subject to fees which are then paid back in QASH to the authors of those strategies.

QASH Token Value Proposition

The value of the QASH token is proportional to the scale of its utility and velocity of usage. For starters, QASH can be used for payment on the Liquid+ platform for everything including trading fees, fees on profit from automated trading strategies (as described above), fiat / crypto credit lending, and for all other services that it renders. QASH can also be used as payment on QUOINE's other products: Quoinex and Qryptos. Additionally, users who elect to pay using QASH on these platforms do so at a discounted rate on fees.
Another important point to note here is that QASH will be used to fuel payment for all services rendered by the Prime Brokerage. So for instance when institutions start to utilize the platform, it means that this money will start to flow through the QASH token as well.
But I think perhaps the bigger and longer-term value proposition for QASH is the fact that it's striving to become the "Bitcoin or Ethereum of the financial services industry", meaning widespread adoption of QASH as the preferred cryptocurrency for use in financial institutions. As more and more of these institutions seek to gain a foothold in the blockchain space, they're going to be looking for cryptocurrencies that maintain trustworthy backing and have the appropriate governmental regulation / security frameworks set in place. QASH aims to fulfill this role and is in fact officially approved as a cryptocurrency by the Japanese government. Moreover, QUOINE is the only cryptocurrency exchange company which is audited by a "Big Four" accounting firm.
QASH is initially built upon the ERC-20 token standard, but will eventually migrate to its own blockchain by Q2 2019. As opposed to Ethereum, the blockchain will incorporate sophisticated tools and services which are geared specifically toward usage in the financial services industry (read more about these here). Having this inherent support for many financially related functions will be paramount for wider adoption as a token of preference, as QASH seeks to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency economy.
With adoption by the financial services industry, the value of the QASH token can then be expected to continue increasing as a result of its ever expanding utility and usage.
Additionally, here's an explanation of the QASH blockchain as described by Andre.

Brief Company Background (QUOINE)

QUOINE is a profitable and established FinTech company (over 250 years of combined FinTech experience) who have built Quoinex, one of the top ranking exchanges in the world by volume, as well as Qryptos, a token-to-token asset exchange and ICO platform. Quoinex is one of the largest fiat-to-crypto exchanges in the world with $12 Billion in annual transactions. They are the first global cryptocurrency firm in the world to be officially licensed by the Japan Financial Services Agency (License 0002) and has as a "Big Four" external auditor.

What gives me confidence that QASH may succeed in becoming widely adopted by financial institutions is that the company is lead by those with strong financial leadership. QUOINE's executives hail from the financial services industry, many of whom have served executive positions at some of the biggest financial institutions in the world.
Detailed information about the executives and board directors can be found on the Liquid+ website (or in the whitepaper) so I won't list them all out here for the sake of conciseness, but many of them come from executive positions at major institutions including:

QASH / Platform Investors

Again, a full detailed list can be found on the Liquid+ website. Investors in the platform and QASH ICO include those who have executive leadership roles at companies such as:
Additionally, Mike had announced in his video AMA a few other notable investors in the ICO who aren't listed on the website:

Liquidity Partners

The platform of course needs a lot of liquidity partners from around the world participating in order for the system to function worthwhile. Andre discusses their numerous liquidity partnerships in this video, so I'll simply summarize:

Other Tidbits & Speculation

QASH, in the long-run, ultimately aims to become the standard preferred cryptocurrency used by financial institutions worldwide, the value of which is derived from the scale of its utility and widespread usage. The QASH token is also used to fuel payment for fees and services in QUOINE's trading platforms, one of which is an upcoming platform called Liquid+.
Liquid+ is a novel platform which I think will change the landscape of the cryptocurrency space. It builds a single massive global liquidity pool called the World Book which allows minor fiat currencies (e.g. Rupee, Peso, GBP, etc.) to trade crypto with the same liquidity that a major fiat currency (e.g. USD) does, significantly reducing losses due to high spreads, and ultimately provides the liquid on-ramp necessary for many potential untapped markets worldwide.
The platform also features a Prime Brokerage service (first of its kind in crypto) which will allow users direct market access to many exchanges throughout the world without the hassle of having to manage accounts on each, which mitigates counter-party risk. 4 misconceptions around Facebook Inc that you should know

The purpose of this article is to combat the misinformation around Facebook Inc problems. This article will try to give you quick answers to clarify some of these myths. Every time you read about some of these inaccuracies, please spend some time to clarify it, or just copy/paste the respective answer.

1) Facebook sells user data. Facebook business model is to sell personal data.

Personal data is the biggest asset of Facebook, without it, it can't target user attention. The business model of Facebook Inc is to sell user attention on different services, mainly Facebook, Messenger and Instagram. Selling personal data will be the biggest error for Facebook. It will give to other companies, the raw material to target ads, promoting competition. Facebook is a wall garden, it wants (obviously) the exclusivity of users attention to get more profits. It makes no sense to Facebook to sells the material that gets 98% of the revenue.
What Facebook shares with "partners" are Hash IDs. An hash is a way to verify that two things are equal, without revealing the content - one way function. Hashing is not encryption. Hash Ids are not anonymous when you have a small pool of possible values easy to compute, like Phone numbers.
A quick a simple example to understand the process. Facebook knows you age, gender and country [1] and partner A knows you age, gender and country and your smoke habits. Facebook and partner A share a scheme to compute the hash ID, a vector with age, gender, and country. Both compute the hash, if the hash ID match, partner A tells to Facebook to show that specific ad.
Small players without exclusive personal data, ask to Facebook to do all the targeting. The more refine that work, more targeted, higher the costs. Facebook has internal machine learning algorithms that already clusters the profiles in different categories, such as your political affiliations, religion, sexuality, ... Another option is when a small player already has a list of contacts, emails, phone IDs that people submit, and ask to Facebook to only target people based on that list.

2) You can't delete Facebook profile. Just deactivate.

Facebook uses a dark pattern for people stay on the platform. When you try to delete your profile, Facebook will redirect to the deactivate page, which don't delete anything, only hides your account from other people. The data is preserved and it is still valuable to Facebook. Deactivation is not deletion. This is reason people wrongly say that Facebook don't delete your profile.
You can and should delete the Facebook profile. The webpage to delete the Facebook profile is this one. Before you delete the profile, backup your Facebook data, revoke app permissions and delete Facebook/Messenger apps. Facebook also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, so it is recommended to delete them.

3) Facebook don't delete anything. Instead it builds a shadow profile.

Facebook deletes your profile information after 30 days you request to delete your profile. After 90 days, the information is also deleted from Facebook backup copies and logs. However, personal data sent by other people from Facebook, like photos you are present, messages are not removed. Contact your friends to delete the content that you would like deleted or better yet, encourage them to leave Facebook. If not, Facebook will continue receive your data: phone number, email address, phone logs from people that have Facebook/MessengeInstagram/WhatsApp installed - the shadow profile. Facebook deletes these data points after 10 days, but since the respective apps "syncs" the contact info every day, in reality it means that the data is never deleted. Again tell your friends to use alternative programs that respect your privacy.

4) Facebook is listening my conversations.

Listening your conversations is not cost effective, not worth it yet for Facebook Inc. It requires a lot of bandwidth, storage and computer power. Facebook would need to record everything to understand the context of the conversation. Assuming you send 3 kBs of speak data per second, that's about 130 MBs per day, per user. First someone will notice this increase in bandwidth and battery drain. Second, it is a lot of data to process, Facebook's entire data storage is about 300 petabytes, with a daily ingestion rate of about 600 terabytes. There are around 150 million daily active users in the US, so that's about 20 petabytes per day, just in the US. Constant audio surveillance would produce about 33 times more data daily than Facebook currently consumes [2]. State of the art speech-to-text translation is not good enough to filter and remove background noise. If the speech-to-text is not accurate, then the natural language algorithm will not understand the meaning of the conversation.
However, the Facebook app could listen in on you to recognize any audio in the background [3]. Facebook mobile app already has a feature to detect the music, TV show or movie is playing in the background. It requires user interaction to activate that feature. The Facebook app converts any sound into an audio fingerprint (similar to the hash id) on your phone. This fingerprint is sent to Facebook servers to try and match it against Facebook's database of audio and TV fingerprints. This type of technology is present in some trackers SDKs: SilverPush, Alphonso, Lisnr, Shopkick, Fidzup, Signal360 [4]. A team of researchers from the Brunswick Technical University has discovered that some mobile applications employ ultrasound cross-device tracking (uXDT) beacons to track users and their nearby environment [5]. Some computer science academics at Northeastern University ran an experiment involving the most popular apps on Android to find out whether any of them were secretly using the phone’s mic to capture audio. The apps included those belonging to Facebook, as well as over 8,000 apps that send information to Facebook. They found no evidence of an app unexpectedly activating the microphone or sending audio out when not prompted to do so [6].
Yes, Facebook is spying on you, the business model requires it, but using more effective ways, mainly via Facebook’s Conversion Pixel. When a company has 10 plus years of user activity, almost all web browser; apps; location; cellphone log phone history, all the social graph is also present on Facebook services, purchase history both online and offline (via loyalty cards/CRM data from data brokers), it is relativity easy to predict and manipulate user behavior.

All you need to know about the upcoming Bulgarian parliamentary elections - Sunday, March 26th

Scroll down for updates!

The voting activity information can be found here. Later, the results will start being published on that same website under the 'РЕЗУЛТАТИ' section.
The upcoming Bulgarian parliamentary elections are this Sunday, March 26th. I wanted to make a thread about them since Bulgaria right now seems to be in a somewhat delicate situation. We've had pressure from our neighbors, Turkey, financial and media influence from Russia across the Black Sea and our own Trump-like candidate.
All parties except the United Patriots are pro-EU membership, although to varying degrees.

Election System

Cycle: every 4 years, unless cabinet "collapses" before
Voting system: Party-list proportional representation
Total number of seats: 240
Electoral threshold: 4%
Why now?
The previous administration, led by the GERB (Citizens for the European Development of Bulgaria) party, resigned after it lost the 2016 Presidential elections to Rumen Radev. Radev was a supposedly independent candidate who nevertheless received backing from the BSP (Bulgarian Socialist Party) who is a former Air Force general and backs warmer ties with Russia. Currently, the country has been led by an interim government.
An important note, GERB's prime minister, Boyko Borissov, has already used resignation successfully as a way to keep his party out of the spotlight during a run-up to elections after resigning during massive protests against high electricity prices in 2013.
How it works
The 240 seats in the Parliament are filled through an open list proportional system. There are 31 districts with between 4 and 16 MPs coming from each district. Voters can choose candidates preferentially, however, they cannot switch out the leader of the party. Voting in Bulgaria is now mandatory, however there is no penalty for not voting.
There are 21 parties and coalitions registered for these elections.
The context
Bulgaria is a member of the European Union and of NATO. Bulgaria today has finally started seeing some economic growth of a few years after the crises of the last 10 years. However, there has been little to no progress fighting organized crime and corruption, and Bulgarians in general are frustrated with the slow pace of reform, but don't know who to trust to move the country forward. As the former president has said, Bulgaria is fast getting pushed into a geopolitical sandwich. On the one hand, we have Erdogan as a neighbor with his ambitions, as well as Putin across the Black Sea, who sees Bulgaria as a traditional Russian pawn. Russia controls ~ 25 % of Bulgaria's economy, according to the recently posted WSJ article.
We are seeing increasing nationalism and have had far-right presence in our Parliament since 2005. In general, the tide is turning against Boyko Borissov, who has been in power since 2009, except for a brief period of interim government rule when he resigned early during mass protest in 2013-2014.
The EU is still keeping Bulgaria on special monitoring, especially for progress against corruption and organized crime, where Bulgaria is particularly lagging, especially when compared to its northern neighbor, Romania. Many in Bulgaria are also wary of the refugee policy of the EU, with the majority being opposed to the Dublin treaty, and many feeling like the EU doesn't particularly care about its external borders.
With the coming of the Trump era, there is a lot of confusion about where America stands with its commitments, and politicians are scrambling to re-align based on perceived strengths.

The parties

Underneath the party names, I put basic information about platforms, as well as main identifiers.
(Explanations for GERB, Socialists, United Patriots, and others taken in part or in whole from here.)
GERB (Citizens for a European Development of Bulgaria)
Center-right, conservative liberalism
Businessman, strong commitment to EU, NATO
The key player in these elections is former Prime Minister Boiko Borisov, 57, a political maverick who has managed to combine his man-in-the-street rhetoric with a strict obedience to Brussels, which has ensured him support at home and abroad. It has helped him win all but one election after he formed his center-right GERB party in 2006 and turned it into the country's most influential party since the fall of communism.
However, GERB has been tied to many scandals, such as wiretapping opponents, and has consistently refused to make progress in the fight against corruption and organized crime, or make any move to reform the judicial system. GERB to many in Bulgaria is synonymous to mafia rule, yet it is undeniable that GERB has also invested more in the country and in infrastructure than any other post-Communist party. Yet one of the biggest complaints is also that most of this investment has only benefitted the capital, Sofia.
Borisov headed a minority government between 2009 and 2013, when he resigned amid sometimes violent protests against poverty, high utility bills and corruption. Last November, Borisov resigned for a second time after his party candidate was defeated in the presidential race.
Halfway into its four-year term, Borisov's coalition government had managed to restore political stability after months of anti-corruption protests. But its popularity had faded because of the slow pace of reforms to eliminate graft and poverty, and overhaul the judicial system.
BSP for Bulgaria (Bulgarian Socialist Party for Bulgaria)
Center-left, social democrats
Greater government spending, strong ties to Russia
This is actually a coalition of parties led by the main BSP. The BSP is basically the old communist party that was re-branded into the socialist policy. Of course, since communism, there have been over 25 years, so the membership is not all ex-communists. However, the party retains strong ties to Russia.
Latest surveys suggest that GERB is now level with BSP, led by Kornelia Ninova, who has managed to raise support after she became its leader a year ago. Last November, former air force general Rumen Radev, who was supported by the Socialists,' defeated Borisov's party candidate in the presidential vote.
Riding high on the wave of Radev's victory, the 48-year-old Socialist leader is trying to convince supporters that their time has finally come to regain power.
The Socialists favor a bigger role for the state in the economy and Ninova has used the campaign to rally the party hardcore voters with promises for higher salaries and pensions. She also wants the EU to lift sanctions against Russia, and plans to restart a nuclear energy project. Currently, Bulgaria must pay a fine of 620 million euro to Russia for the cancellation of the project, which had been started during a socialist government, but cancelled under GERB. Critics of the project say Bulgaria does not need the extra electricity generation and that it would leave Bulgaria even more dependent on Russia.
United Patriots
Far right, anti-immigration
Strong ties to Russia
The United Patriots alliance, formed ahead of the presidential vote by the Patriotic Front and the Ataka party, is expected to secure a solid chunk of the vote.
Their presidential candidate, Krasimir Karakachanov, came in third last November with some 15 percent of the votes due to widespread fears of a massive refugee influx.
Now, support for them may get an additional boost after they staged protests against what they call Turkey's "meddling" in the elections. The nationalists claim that Turkish officials were forcing expatriate voters to support a pro-Ankara party, which they say is a threat to Bulgarian national interests.
Volya (Will)
A newcomer to the parliamentarian elections is Veselin Mareshki and his party Volya (Will). He made a star debut in the presidential race by winning 11 percent of the votes. Dubbed by many as the Bulgarian Donald Trump, the 49-year-old wealthy businessman has gained popularity with his anti-establishment and patriotic rhetoric and promises strict immigration controls and friendlier relations with Moscow. He has even used Trump tricks like saying that since he has had to pay bribes to officials, he knows best how corrupt the system is and how to fix it.
DSP (Movement for Rights and Freedoms)
Party for minorities, possible ties to Russia
The 'original' party for Bulgarian Turks, this party was founded by Ahmed Dogan in 1990. The party base counts not only Bulgarian Turks, but also Pomaks (muslim Bulgarians), and Roma. Since this party has had the most stable base in Bulgarian politics, many of its politicians have more room to maneuver than other parties. The DSP has often been accused of vote buying, corruption, and involvement in organized crime.
Last year, however, during the Turkish-Russian tensions when Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet, the DSP ended up kicking out its chairmen Lutfi Mestan, for supporting Turkey in the incident, leading many to question whether the DSP has more ties to Russia than to Turkey. Mestan promptly fled to the Turkish consulate for protection as he claimed that he was scared for his life.
DOST (Democrats for Responsibility, Freedom, and Tolerance)
Party for Bulgarian Turks, strong ties to Turkey
Mestan promptly formed a new party aimed at getting the Turkish vote, called DOST, an acronym which is also the Turkish word for best friend. Initially the party was denied registration due to the name of the party also being a Turkish word, as in Bulgaria ethnic based parties are not allowed.
DOST has received backing from the Turkish state, as the Turkish Labor minister has openly stated that Bulgarian Turks should vote for DOST over DSP. Furthermore, 3 more Turkish citizens, one a Chief Staffer from the governate of Edirne, were expelled from Bulgaria for inciting 'ethnic divisions.'
Erdogan has since retorted that Turks in Bulgaria were facing pressure to vote for a particular party, namely the DSP.
Reformist Bloc
Economic liberalism, social reform
Strongly pro-reform, EU, NATO, most anti-Russia
The Reformist Bloc is a center-right electoral alliance in Bulgaria comprised of the 'old' right-wing parties from the 90s. It is, as its name states, after general reforms including free markets, judicial reforms, tax reform, and is a proponent of the European Energy Union.
Da, Bulgaria (Yes, Bulgaria)
Social reform
Single issue party - Judicial reform
A recently formed party, it is led by Hristo Ivanov, one of the Ministers of Justice under Borissov's governments. Ivanov's main goal is judicial reform, and this is the core platform on which this party was founded. Ivanov lost a battle to reform the judiciary while Minister of Justice, which was waged primarly against the Chief Prosecutor of Bulgaria Sotir Tsatsarov. Many see Tsatsarov as the hidden kingmaker of Bulgarian politics, as the Chief Prosecutor's office is currently quite powerful and with almost zero oversight. One of Ivanov's goals was to provide more oversight to the position.
Many of the protest voters have stated they will vote for Da, Bulgaria. However, most of the vote will be taken away from the Reformist Bloc, making it possible that neither of the smaller right-wing parties will not cross the 4% electoral threshold.
New Republic
Social reform
Judicial reform, pro-Europe, anti-Russia
New Republic are a right-wing conservative party which is vehemently pro-EU, anti-Russia, pro-reform etc. They were a part of the Reformist Bloc in the previous parliament but withdrew after the proposal for legal reform was sabotaged by the GERB + RB + Patriots majority. Many people expected them to form a coalition with Yes, Bulgaria and there is now some disappointment that such coalition has not happened. They have been extremely active in social media over the last weeks and have likely gained some support over the course of the campaign, yet they are not seen as passing the 4% barrier.
ABV (Alternative for Bulgarian Revival)
Led by former President Georgi Parvanov, soft ties to Russia
Splinter party from the BSP started by the former president.
Total number of parties: 21

Main topics

  • Immigration and integration
  • Judicial Reform
  • Budget and Provincial Development
  • Russia
  • Turkey

List of online/streaming motorsports content providers and podcasts
Introduction If you’re reading this, you’re likely a motorsports fan interested in “cutting the cord”, and may be worried about not being able to watch your favorite races if you do tell your cable or satellite provider, to “shove it”. Or, maybe you recently cut the cord, and now you’re panicking, wondering how you'll watch all of your favorite racing now that you’ve returned the cable box to the cable company? The past few years, I’ve tried to put together as complete a list of on-line and OTA resources as possible, and share it here, at the CordKillers Reddit. I can’t promise that’s it’s 100% complete, but I can tell you I’ve done a lot of research into this subject, and anything/everything I’ve found is here for you to use, and hopefully you’ll find it all somewhat useful.
I would suggest that if you’re even half the motorsports fan that I am, that you consider taking some of the money you won’t be sending to your cable company, and spend it going to some races at your local short tracks. Dirt or pavement, it’s likely that not too far away from you, every weekend, there’s exciting racing to watch, live and in person. Countless people work hard to put on that show every week, from the track owner, the track promoters, the safety crews, the racers, and their friends and family that help them every week. Take some time to attend a local short track race near you in 2019. If you visit any in Northwest Florida, you may even bump into me!
I would also suggest that if you’re as interested in motorsports as I assume you are, taking the time to read all of this, that you look at joining the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). You’ll find a wide range of options that will allow you to get more involved in motorsports.
If you don’t see anything interesting there, check out this article from Grassroots Motorsports, outlining even more options to go from watching to participating in motorsports you love:
And, if you’re a small business owner, looking for a way to promote your business, you won’t find a more passionate group of potential customers than motorsports fans. Hey, you already know this, you are a motorsports fan! Consider contacting your local track and inquiring about sponsoring part of their facility, or a local driver.
If you’re looking for opportunities to sponsor a driver to market your business, consider contacting Melinda Sewell and Melissa Collins at They have a driveteam for every budget.
And, if you’ve read this far, be sure to check out the YouTube version of the Guide! I’ll be re-booting it this year and will be featuring services and devices my 70+ year old parents are using as new cord-cutters who love motorsports.
And now, “The List”

What does a Platform as a Service for environmentalism look like?

The greatest gift the environment4change team can give to the Planet, as entrepreneurs, is to engineer a digital platform of inclusion, empowerment, participation, trust and transparency geared towards collecting and aggregating all the goodwill environmental effort, digitising the ecosystem and equipping all who participate with the digital tools and access to resources needed to act with local care, whilst having access to global expertise and resource to save our single and shared Mother Earth. Arguably, the greatest benefit of platform architecture is in its ability to aggregate the many ‘unorganised’ and ‘dispossessed’ to a shared purpose, function and achievement whilst enabling and empowering scale. The platform takes highly fragmented effort, individual, business, industry and sector and aggregates into a single domain creating amazing size, access, utility and potential collaborative efficiencies where none previously existed.
Digital tools – the must-have accessory! The environment4change platform architecture will contain a set of growing digital tools, delivered in modules. These tools will enable the industry ‘Goliaths’ to behave like nibble digital ‘David’s’, offering new and expanded scope of access and inclusivity. New environmental based programs can be spun up quickly by anyone with an Account, and reach a global audience of collaborators, all from within a web interface. Ecosystem participants and community will clearly see what projects are underway and how local action can help the success of a project in another area/country/region of the World. Transparency is enabled and this will empower a richer democratised ownership of the world’s environmental troubles putting the solution into our global shared ‘hands.’ This is the power of democratisation and community access and ownership, proving decentralised and aggregated effort is the result of co-operation.
Defining the environment4change Global Platform and Ecosystem The adage, ‘service globally but act locally’ best describes our recipe for growing our platform and ecosystem in support of our goals, vision and mission! The following are some examples of how a ‘platform as a service’ (PaaS) together with a Blockchain for transparency, mobility for access, and web services for ease of use, will support the ecosystem, businesses and community, as we set about creating a movement of scale and force for change, thus redefining, ‘what environmental success looks like’ for the planet, as a whole. It is the environment4change infrastructure utility token (E4C), which will describe and transfer the value of interactions of the ecosystem. The E4C token will also function as a store of transaction and interaction value and methodology for commercialisation, activism and participation, in all it entails, outside the blockchain network, at the service edges of the ecosystem and facing the virtual border of the ‘Big Wide World.’
  1. Collaborate with established Environmental Agencies. The environment4change Platform will be open to support and collaborate with all other Environmental Agencies, Charities and organisations in their endeavours to save the planet. All 3rd party organisations who access the platform will have the benefit of the global footprint of a number of digital services ensuring their audience grows from local to global. The environment4change platform will act as an aggregator of unconnected resource, bringing the intent and energy of all unconnected endeavours into a community for the realisation of synergies of scope, footprint, resource, access and utility. This is scale! Our platform will act as an undiluted network of environmental action, seeing 100% of any donation reach its intended cause.
  2. Enable everyone to become an environmentalist. Through the environment4change platform we envisage, within a short time after launch of service, many thousands of concurrent projects to be spun up and running within our platform. These projects can be supported by anyone with an environment4change account and sees an opportunity for local businesses to support local environmental activities at a very low-cost point. Running the platform in many languages I believe it is easy to see how web services, PaaS architecture and community care can soon revolutionise the world of local and global environmental effort. Competitions, prizes and other mechanisms will be used to make environmentalism the new ‘cool’ behaviour for everyone.
  3. Build Global Schools program The environment4change team sees the value in educating our young today so our planet stands a better chance, tomorrow. With that thought in mind and knowing the kids today understand the latest technology and have a whole lot of great energy and a real sense of ‘what is right’, the Team will be launching a global facing, programme for Schools. All Schools, around the World, in supported languages, will be invited to join the environment4change Schools program with a chance to have their project promoted globally as a demonstration of the will, determination and knowhow of kids in respect of the type of Planet they want to live in and share with their neighbours. Schools will create project outlines, the environment4change network will provide expert advice, if needed, and promote the project, where appropriate. Completing the local project is up to the School and kids with community help if required. Our kids will learn the value of participation, setting goals to obtain results and project management with the benefit being derived by local communities for the betterment of our globes habitats, ecosystems and environment.
  4. Create an Investment Fund to buy Land / Businesses to save endangered Fauna and Flora and remove pollution from the environment It is the future goal of the environment4change team to create a global Innovation fund of action where our global resource reach will be used to purchase critically important parcels of land to ensure the longevity of endangered fauna and flora. We will partner with the World’s best universities, environmental agencies and organisation to identify and purchase critical parts of the planet for safe-keeping and the betterment of global nature generally.
We see a future where environment4change members donate E4C tokens in order to purchase habitat rich land. As the E4C Token will be tradeable on many exchanges across the global, the vendor is paid in E4C tokens or their local currency.
The Platform’s Innovation Fund will also consider investments into businesses serving to clean up the planet by removing plastics and other pollutants from the environment. This will be in instances where plant, equipment and other infrastructure does not exist and where governments are not willing to take the investment necessary to enable this Community service.
  1. Create Affiliate channels and extend the reach of your message The evironment4change team recognise there are passionate environmentalist around the globe that, if equipped, will strive locally for the protection of fauna and flora in areas local to them. We believe a global tapestry of locals, if large enough, can be representative of our planet and that is exactly what we want to achieve. The environment4change team is building an affiliate channel where local, State and Country environmental issues can move past their geographical boundaries to create interest, intent and action, elsewhere. The environment4change Team will be seeking to grow their global footprint and team to all destinations, around the World. Equipped with digital tools, social networking, a global resource, and access to new funding models we will make a difference, which will benefit future generations.
  2. Become a specialised e-commerce portal offering stylish in-demand specialised value adds. The environment4change team realise plastic, and other waste, is destroying many wildlife species and seeping into the human food chain. Latest research makes this an undisputed fact. All alternatives for recycling, while value adding our shared community, must be considered and if appropriate and non-threatening, be supported. A number of highly fashionable and in demand brands and companies are already engaged in this endeavour and producing amazing clothing apparel. The environment4change team endeavour to support such entrepreneurship by collection of the raw material and donation of recycling station processes, enabling the transfer of raw waste pollutant into the ingredients necessary for supported brand user case.
  3. Accounting for Proof of Work Blockchain technologies, until the advent of proof of stake, may have been a dirty word, in the minds of most environmentalist. Although we are a team of technologists we are not bound to ritualistic loyalty and acquiesce of the proof of work algorithm, as it is extremely heavy on power requirements, by design and necessity, was never a consideration for us. Part of our strategy will be the engagement of the larger crypto-industry ecosystem, with respect to use, either directly or indirectly, of the proof of work consensus algorithm and engagement with them in respect to turning a negative into a positive for our shared loved industry, the planet and all flora and fauna within it. The environment4change team believes this is a fantastic opportunity to unite as an industry and be the talking point of all other industries, in respect to our collective acknowledgement, maturity and determination to make right our industry’s use of fossil fuels and become a ‘green clean’ Industry.
  4. Social platform The environment4change team is aware of the power and influence a social network can bring and possess in respect of positive environmental activism, message and success. By the nature of what social media can do today, its ability to empower, portray and share a message or cause, it can cause a dynamic shift in attitude from, “I can’t help the problem, it is too big, to “environmentalism is working and I also want to play a part, for the sake of my own family and community.” We are building a digital platform for doers, helping find shared solutions to shared problems. We are insuring a strong social network presence in our platform architecture to ensure our collaborating partners can make sound use of social media, networking and gateways to announce their environmental projects to a waiting global audience of ready participants.
  5. Directory programme Our Directory Programme is focused on matching organisations, at the dawn of their own environmental journey, with an environmental organisation or cause which they believe is synonymous with their own organisational ethos and beliefs. The organisation, via the platform architecture will be enabled to commence their own environmental journey at the pace and on the projects they wish. All new contributing organisations will soon understand they can play an active role in improving the planet for the benefit of the next generation of all living things. This participation can start small, offsetting their own commercial caused greenhouse emissions but is enabled to grow at the will and desire of the organisation itself. It also means a undiluted path of new contribution to the organisation just expanding its own environmental awareness.
  6. Emission footprint programme The team at environment4change are building a digital service where households and businesses alike can check their greenhouse emissions footprint and offset this number with a donation of time, effort or money towards an Environmental cause, making a real and definable difference, as it affects the nullification of their own damaging greenhouse emissions behaviour.
  7. Weekend warrior program The weekend warrior program will be a call-out to all environmentally aware citizens to come together for the betterment of the environment, local native habitats and ecosystems. Based on sense of ownership, community, contribution, social networking and fun, our local community organisers will set the weekend’s goal, meeting place and meet-up afterwards where each week our local communities can become friendlier places for local fauna and flora.
  8. Unique programs of participation yet to be defined
The team at environment4change envision many unique programs to be spun up from within the platform leading to co-operation of transferable skill sets, expertise and effort. This cross pollination will be both globally and locally based and will span many realms of endeavour.
The above forms the blue print of our services offer to the wider environmental/charity sector. Much of the above will be enabled by partnership, working with known and trusted actors, within the industry via open API’s. Function and service development, when required, will be completed with a non-ownership, collaborative, open source, services orientation. All development will be undertaken to encapsulate the global population, to encourage ownership of our environmental issues and to empower action, participation and inclusion in finding the set of solutions needed to ensure net-global damage ceases today and commences its roll back tomorrow!
About environment4change
environment4change is a platform as a service, using elements of blockchain technology, web services, social media and e-commerce, encapsulated in and around a decentralized operating system. The goal is to democratize and scale environmentalism so that we can all clean up Planet Earth.
Initial Coin Offering via EOS
The environment4change (E4C) Initial Coin Offering (ICO) will be in support of the development of a PaaS in support of current and future environmental intent and action. Participation in the ICO will be by many popular digital currencies, EOS, BTC, and ETH, as well as fiat currencies (GBP, Euro and AUD).
The E4C token will be used to transfer value and encode interaction data from our PaaS, the service boundary, in and around the greater ecosystem. A future donation against any participating environmental organisation or project will be transparent via BlockChain technology.
